For those of you who follow on Instagram and Facebook, you may have noticed we had to take a break for a few weeks. It turns out those last weeks of pregnancy are some HARD miles. 🙂 But, as of early February, we celebrated the arrival of our smallest member of the Ninja Cat team.
So now, in between temper tantrums and feeds, things are starting to settle into something resembling a routine and we can start to bring you some new patterns!
And here we have it, one of the Lovecraftian Great Ones, Cthulhu! This pattern has been in the works for quite some time (I think it was first previewed on Insta around 5 months ago!) but all the notes were lost in our house move last year and I thought he may be lost forever!
But, low and behold, after some frantic box emptying, he has arrived! Complete with cute little two tone wings, chibi limbs and curly tentacles. Cute and creepy in equal measure!
He stands around 15cm tall if worked up in aran weight yarn (the pattern is designed using Drops Paris cotton yarn), but you can change up his size simply by switching yarn type and adjusting the crochet hook size accordingly.
He’s perhaps slightly more complex than our normal free patterns – it’s still based almost entirely on single crochet stitches, but the incorporated tentacles (a bit of FLO and chain stitch working) as well as the wings are probably more aimed at a moderate beginner. But if you’re a fairy new beginner, just take your time and feel free to drop any questions in the comments box. Always happy to help out!

As always, please feel free to leave a comment and let us know what you’d like to see. Are you desperately looking for an amigurumi pattern that just doesn’t seem to exist yet? Or is there something you’d like to see in our style? Just let us know. You never know what 2021 may bring! 🙂
And any questions just let us know! Always happy to have the feedback!
