Let’s take a trip to Moominvalley…

A fresh new week and this week’s update seems a little more wholesome than most. Why? Because we can announce our latest pattern release is inspired by Tove Jansson’s much loved characters, the Moomins!

The pattern includes all you need, step-by-step, to crochet up a set of Moomin trolls and then customise them to create Moomin Troll, Moomin Pappa, Moomin Mamma and Snorkmaiden. The dolls are worked up primarily in single crochet stitches, so is suitable for a moderate beginner who has a little experience in picking up stitches and joining construction.

The pattern uses aran weight yarn and a 3.5mm hook, and that makes them approximately 19cm tall (a smidge taller for Pappa because of his hat), but you could up or downscale them by using different weight yarn and a matching hook size.

I just love their big, over-sized, rounded snouts, little pointy ears and dangly tails! Like chubby, walking hippos!

If you’ve been following on Instagram or Facebook (and why wouldn’t you? Check out ninja_cat_crafts and hit follow!) then you’ll know that since the last blog post we’ve also released a second pattern for Shadow Heartless.

He’s both creepy and cute and a real heart- stealer! Inspired by the characters from the Kingdom Hearts video game, this little fella has wired antennae and arms to make him poseable. So you can give him a custom look and change it up whenever you feel like it! The pattern also includes the instructions to make the heart too as a little prop for your amigurumi.
