FREE CROCHET AMIGURUMI PATTERN

About this pattern:
This cute little lost Soul is just looking for a new home in the real world.
The materials required are listed below. The yarn used to make her as pictured was Drops Paris (cotton) yarn in pale blue, with a scrap of white felt for the mouth.
In order to get the fluffy texture, the individual pieces are brushed with a wide toothed metal pet hair brush before attaching together. Different yarns will respond differently to being brushed – you may find cotton or acrylic yarns work best.
Materials:
- Aran Weight Yarn (light blue)
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- Pet hair slicker
- Scraps of white felt for mouth
- Blue yarn or embroidery thread for the eyebrows and mouth
- Blush for the rosy cheeks
- Stitch markers and pins
- Yarn needle
- Stuffing
Stitch Abbreviations:
Sc = Single crochet
Slip st = Slip stitch
Invdec = invisible decrease
** = a repeating stitch pattern
Measurements:
The completed pieces measure approx. 9 cm tall.
Pattern Notes:
Stitches are written in standard US terms working in continuous rounds unless otherwise specified.
Let’s Get Started!
22
ARMS (Make 2)
It can be useful to start with the arms as these are small pieces that you can use to test out how your yarn takes to the brushing.
Using light blue yarn, working in continuous rounds
Rnd 1 : Work 6sc into a magic ring (6)
Rnd 2 : *sc in next stitch, 2sc* Repeat 3 times (9)
Rnd 3-4 : sc in each stitch around (9)
Rnd 5 : *sc in next stitch, invdec* Repeat 3 times (6)
Rnd 6-8 : sc in each stitch around (6)
Fasten off and start working your way over each arm with the pet hair brush. Start by brushing in one direction only (top to bottom) – this may be enough to get sufficient ‘fluff’.
Personal Note: I tend to crochet with quite a lot of tension so I first brushed in one direction, then fluffed it up some more by brushing lightly in the opposite direction. I found if I worked in too many directions the fluff would just come off on the brush and be lost. So it’s best to just test out how the brushing technique works with your own yarn and stitching and see what works best for you.

Rnd 15: *sc in next stitch, invdec* Repeat 6 times (12)
Fasten off and brush the piece.
If you are using safety eyes, insert them between Rnds 9 and 10, approx. 6 stitches apart. You can also add a few stitches of white yarn around the water line of the eyes to make them stand out and look more cartoony.
Using blue yarn, stitch in the eyebrow detail and then add the white felt teeth. Finally, brush on some blush for the big red rosey cheeks.
Stuff the head.
