FREE CROCHET AMIGURUMI PATTERN

About this pattern:
Cowabunga, dudes!! Add a little turtle power to your crochet collection with these Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle inspired patterns.
The materials required are listed below. The yarn used to make him as pictured was Drops Paris (cotton) yarn in green, beige, light brown and then colour scraps for the masks.
Materials:
- Aran Yarn (green, beige, light brown, colour scraps)
- 3.5mm crochet hook
- 9mm safety eyes x 2 per turtle
- Stitch markers and pins
- Yarn needle
- Stuffing
Stitch Abbreviations:
Sc = Single crochet
Slip st = Slip stitch
Invdec = invisible decrease
FLO = Front loops only
BLO = Back loops only
** = a repeating stitch pattern
Measurements:
The completed pieces measure approx. 12 cm tall.
Pattern Notes:
Stitches are written in standard US terms working in continuous rounds unless otherwise specified.
Let’s Get Started!
TMNT
LEFT LEG
Using green yarn, working in continuous rounds
Rnd 1 : Stitch 6sc into a magic ring (6)
Rnd 2 : 2sc in each stitch around (12)
Rnd 3 : sc in each stitch around (12)
Fasten off.

Left leg, Rnds 1 to 3
RIGHT LEG
Repeat as per left leg for Rnds 1-3 and then, instead of fastening off, move on to Rnd 4.
Rnd 4: Ch1. Insert the hook into the left leg. Working around the left leg, sc in all 12 stitches. Working across the ch stitch, sc in the chain. Repeat around the right leg and opposite side of the joining chain stitch. (26)


This will connect both legs together and form one continuous round for the body.
BODY
Rnd 5: *sc in next 6 stitches, 2sc, sc in next 6 stitches* Repeat 2 times (28)
Rnd 6: *sc in next 7 stitches, 2sc, sc in next 6 stitches* Repeat 2 times (30)
Rnd 7-9: sc in each stitch around (30)
Rnd 10: *sc in the next 8 stitches, invdec* repeat 3 times (27)
Rnd 11: sc in each stitch around (27)
Rnd 12: *sc in the next 7 stitches, invdec* Repeat 3 times (24)
Rnd 13: *sc in the next 6 stitches, invdec* Repeat 3 times (21)
Rnd 14: *sc in the next 5 stitches, invdec* Repeat 3 times (18)
Rnd 15: *sc in next stitch, invdec* Repeat 6 times (12)
Before continuing with the head, stuff the body. Be sure to stuff right into the sides of the body as this will give them their full, rounded shape.
HEAD
Rnd 16: *sc FLO in the next stitch, 2sc FLO* Repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 17: *sc in next 2 sticthes, 2sc* Repeat 6 times (24)
Rnd 18: *sc in the next 3 stitches, 2sc* Repeat 6 times (30)
Rnd 19: *sc in the next 4 stitches, 2sc* Repeat 6 times (36)
Rnd 20-21: sc in each stitch around (36)
Switch to your chosen mask colour
Rnd 22-23: sc in each stitch around (36)
Switch back to green yarn
Rnd 24: sc in each stitch around (36)
Rnd 25: *sc in next 4 stitches, invdec* Repeat 6 times (30)
Rnd 26: *sc in next 3 stitches, invdec* Repeat 6 times (24)
Rnd 27: *sc in next 2 stitches, invdec* Repeat 6 times (18)
If using safety eyes, take the opportunity now to insert them. The eyes are placed between rounds 22 and 23 approx. 5 stitches apart. You can also use embroidery thread or lighweight yarn in white around the eyeline to make the eyes stand out.
Start stuffing the head and continue to stuff as the decrease rounds continue to a close.
Rnd 28: *sc in the next stitch, invdec* Repeat 6 times (12)
Rnd 29: invdec in each stitch around (6)
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Using a yarn needle, weave the tail end through the front loops of the last Rnd of stitches and pull tight to close. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

ARMS (Make 2)
Using green yarn, working in continuous rounds.
Rnd 1: Stitch 6 sc into a magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: *sc in the next stitch, 2sc* Repeat 3 times (9)
Rnd 3: sc in each stitch around (9)
Fasten off.

SHELL
Using brown yarn, working in continuous rounds.
Rnd 1: Stitch 6 sc into a magic ring (6)
Rnd 2: 2sc in each stitch around (12)
Rnd 3: *sc in the next stitch, 2sc* Repeat 6 times (18)
Rnd 4: *sc in next 2 stitches, 2sc* Repeat 6 times (24)
Rnd 5: slip st BLO in each stitch around (24)
Fasten off.

SHELL FRONT/PATCH
Using beige yarn, working in continuous rounds.
Rnd 1: Chain 5. Working into the 2nd ch stitch from the hook, sc in the first 3 stitches. Work 3sc in the final stitch, turning as they are worked to then continue to working down the opposite side of the original chain stitches. sc in the next 2 stitches, 2sc in the last (10)
Rnd 2: 2sc in the first stitch, sc in the next 3 stitches, 2sc, 2sc, sc in the next 3 stitches, 2sc in the last (14)
Fasten off.

ASSEMBLY
Attach the arms to either side of the body. The tops of the arm should be approx. 3 rows below where the body stops and the head begins.
Attach the front patch to the front of the body, the top should be in line with the tops of the arms.
Attach the shell to the back…
And that’s it, your ninja turtles is complete!
