Weekend Freebie! Kaonashi Keepsake Holder!

A new pattern announcement today. If you’ve followed the blog for a while you’ll know we’re a household of studio Ghibli fans, and I love that so many in the crochet community are fans too. But this one comes with a bit of a twist!

The famous antagonist from the movie Spirited Away, Kaonashi (No Face) is known to look quiet and unassuming, but capable of devouring all in sight. So here is your very own No Face pattern which can open up to devour (or rather, store) your small keepsakes or treats.

I have been using mine to store stitch markers and he happily just sits on my desk. So he’s cute and practical at the same time.

The individual pieces are really quick and easy to work up – all you need to know are single crochet and slip stitches. The construction is quite simple too, with plenty of photos to take you through the process step-by-step.

You have a red inner layer that sits neatly inside a black outer layer, with a set of teeth sandwiched between the two. This is all hinged with a few whip stitches at the back to allow him to open up. Add in a face and a tongue and you have your own No Face!

As always, if you like what you see, please feel free to leave a comment. Same goes for any questions too, always happy to have the feedback!

Are there other Studio Ghibli inspired patterns you’d like to see? We’ve already published a free Totoro and Friends pattern set as well as some premium patterns of some lead characters; Chihiro, Princess Mononoke and Kiki and Jiji. But is there some other character you’d like to see? Just let us know in the comments below!
